The Mary Michelman Memorial Fund is being created to honor Mary’s efforts to create the educational and awareness-raising installation at the East Acton Village Green (EAVG) at the intersection of Great Road and Concord Road, bordered by the Ice House Pond, and intersected by the proposed Bruce Freeman Rail Trail (BFRT). It will honor her creation, leadership and stewardship of Acton Stream Teams (www.actonstreamteams.org) and the protection of all local waterways. Expenditures from this fund will be restricted to:
- The design, construction (including landscaping), installation of amenities (e.g. benches, kiosks, interpretive plaques, memorial to Mary), and the maintenance of the EAVG.
- The improvement of, access to, enjoyment of, education about, and protection of streams, rivers, water bodies, aquifers, and wetlands that intersect, abut and/or are in close proximity to the BFRT.
