Thank you for choosing to use the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail for your event. Please use this form to register for all organized events. Please provide at least 60 days advance notice. This form is used by the Towns to ensure event organizers have adequately planned for the event, to reduce the chance that multiple large events will be held on the same section of trail on the same day, and to provide a consistent set of questions and guidance for all municipalities impacted by the event. All registration forms should be submitted via the electronic form. Please do not mail or bring printed applications to the respective Town Halls. Please do not submit edited versions of the form from previous events. Electronic registration automatically informs officials in all towns along Phase I of the trail of the event and will place notice of the event on the Friends of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Event Calendar. During the event, we ask that your group respect other users of the trail as well as property adjacent to the trail. Please follow all rules of the trail and exercise caution, particularly at road intersections. With your assistance, the safety and pleasure of all can be maximized. Authorized parking is available at the following locations (please see trail map below):
- Chelmsford Center for the Arts (formerly Old Town Hall), 1A North Road (Rt. 4), Chelmsford
- Chelmsford Center Artwalk, Cushing Place, Chelmsford
- Santander Bank Municipal Parking lot, 5 Billerica Road (Rt. 129), Chelmsford
- Byam School, 25 Maple Road, Chelmsford (non-school hours only. Registration required for using the grounds. See details below.)
- Town Land at Heart Pond, 2 Pond Street, Chelmsford
Please note that the parking lot at the Rt. 3 terminus is private property. Use of that facility must be authorized by the property owner and proof of authorization must be provided. There is currently no authorized parking for the trail available in Westford. You must receive permission from the property owner for the use of any facility, other than those listed above as authorized parking, for parking for your event.
On weekends, the best location for staging an event is at the Byam School where there is ample parking and room for you to install portable toilets, if desired. Event organizers are responsible for submitting a "Use of Facilities" form to the Chelmsford Public Schools to inform them that you wish to use the grounds for an event and to avoid any conflicts with previously scheduled events. Please go to http://www.Chelmsford.k12.ma.us/ and click on "Facilities Rentals" to obtain the form. Fill out and submit the form as instructed. Proof of approval to use the Byam School grounds must be obtain and provided. Annual and repeat events require registration for each event. Additional open space is available at the adjacent Red Wing Farm Conservation Area. From Byam School, the event can loop south to Rt. 27 and back (approx. 4.4 mi) or north to Chelmsford Center and back (approx. 4.8 mi) without crossing any major intersections. Questions Only -
