Winter is a great time to visit Phase 1 (Lowell, Chelmsford, and Westford) of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. The trail is NOT plowed in the winter but is open for winter activities including snowshoeing and cross country skiing when snow covered. Motorized vehicles such as snowmobiles and ATV’s are NOT allowed on the trail at any time. If these vehicles are seen on the trail, please call the local Police Department Non-Emergency number to report this activity.
